Maps Fort Pierce to Bimini Serendipity was purchased in Fort Pierce, Florida and after six weeks waiting for a new Head Sail and general repairs, we sailed to Pompano Beach. We had friends that wanted to sail down with us, so we made it a four day trip. The only incidents that we had were at the very end, when we fouled an anchor line (not ours) when we were waiting for the Hillsboro Blvd bridge to open. We also lost a prop when I parked in front of the bridge and used the diesels to keep us there so we wouldn't lose our spot. Moral: Don't plan to enter the intercoastal at a tricky bridge during a busy weekend (with an emergency vehicle keeping the bridge closed). After a few (yes few) months in Pompano Beach renovating the galley and salon, we finally headed to Miami to stage for the difficult 'Gulf Stream' crossing. We made it to Fort Lauderdale when we had the Starboard engine overheat (impellor) and the Port engine acting strangely (just wasn't used to it yet). We used the opportunity to get into River Bend Marina to have the engines serviced. After a week, we completed the trip to No Name Harbor on Key Biscayne (Miami). Another few days there and then the dangerous crossing to Bimini. Not really, only one foot waves.
